Barbara Drury
Barbara has been playing and hanging around with dogs since she was a young kid where she was always so happy to be surrounded by her doggie friends. She has over 10 years of experience in working in the Doggie Daycare field and she opened her own daycare of Manilow's Canine Playground in June 2003.
Her doggie daycare is named for her special dog, Manilow who was her inspiration to open up her very own business. He has since passed away, however his spirit continues to live on here at our doggie daycare.
Barbara now owns two yellow Labrador Retrievers who are Barry & Baxter and they have lots of fun playing with their many friends here at Manilow's Canine Playground.
Seth Beauregard
Seth has always had a canine companion in his life. From the age of one up to four, he had a German Shepard who was extremely loyal to his family. At age six, Seth’s family brought two golden retrievers into their family. These two dogs, Simba and Butterscotch were friends Seth grew up with. He created a very special bond with the two of them, they really were family to him. Unfortunately Butterscotch passed when Seth was sixteen and Simba recently passed in the summer before his junior year at college.
Seth’s family now has two more dogs in the family. Angel and Link who are both rescued dogs that were stranded during Hurricane Ike. Both of the dogs are loving and can not get enough attention.
Seth began working at Manilow’s Canine Playground in the summer before his junior year at college. He loved working there and meeting many new canine friends. Every day was something knew and to be enjoyed with all of the furry friends. Dogs are great animals and are able to create a bond with anyone regardless of their background. During his time there Seth was able to enjoy the company of all the doggie friends from the regulars to the once in a while visitors.
Unfortunately Seth could not continue to work at Manilow’s due to having to get back to his college studies in the field of Fine Arts. Seth hopes to return to Manilow’s during the winter and summer breaks from college.
Cathy Paine
Working with animals has always been a dream of mine. I currently work at Fallon Animal Clinic in Lunenburg, MA. I can honestly say I love my job. Most of my background has been in the medical field working in nursing homes, rest homes, Human Services and as a home health aide. When I decided to leave the medical field in January of 2000, I felt “burnt out” and opted for a job as a secretary for a local furniture and catalog company; which folded one year later. I started to feel that helping people was where I needed to be. When I applied at a local vet’s office, I didn’t realize it was my own vet.
It’s been 9 years now and to be able to be a voice for a population that is so often ignored and abused, I am grateful. The rewards in Veterinary medicine are sometimes overwhelming–when you see an animal so neglected, fully recover because of the wonderful people who believe in what they do. I never feel burnt out working with animals because of their unconditional love and I know in my heart this is where I belong...

When I was a little girl I played with plastic dogs and cats. I used my doll house as a doggie daycare, and I dreamed of opening up my own kennel. When I was about six I even put up flyers on my mailbox and on telephone poles near my house advertising my doggie daycare….. I never got any customers. The years have gone by and now I’m working at a doggie daycare with “real” dogs.
I have always loved animals and have wanted to be a veterinarian ever since I can remember. Most kids go through that stage but I never grew out of it. I’m now a Junior in high school and I still know I want to be a vet.
My passion for animals has taken me too many places over the years including volunteering at a Veterinary Hospital, where I observed many surgeries and regular appointments. While volunteering I witnessed many surgeries including spays/neuters, cat de-claws and much more. Although this experience sadly ended a few summers ago it opened up a new door for me. Since then I’ve been working once a month with the dog groomer whose office is in the Vets building. I assist the groomer with brushing out, shaving down and bathing both cats and dogs. I even attended the Adventures in Veterinary Medicine program at Tufts University in Grafton. Last summer I started volunteering at a dog training facility. Through this experience I have learned why dogs behave the way they do and how their brains function.
I also have a dog of my own named Jessie. She is my first dog and I spent 13 years convincing my parents we needed a dog. They finally gave in and that’s how I got my puppy Jessie. I love dogs because they never judge and they are always there for you when you need them. Dogs make our lives whole, and I can’t imagine what life would be like without them.
