About Us

Barbara Drury

Barbara has been playing and hanging around with dogs since she was a young kid where she was always so happy to be surrounded by her doggie friends. She has over 10 years of experience in working in the Doggie Daycare field and she opened her own daycare of Manilow's Canine Playground in June 2003.

Her doggie daycare is named for her special dog, Manilow who was her inspiration to open up her very own business. He has since passed away, however his spirit continues to live on here at our doggie daycare.

Barbara now owns two yellow Labrador Retrievers who are Barry & Baxter and they have lots of fun playing with their many friends here at Manilow's Canine Playground.

Paula Curran

Paula has over 15 years of experience in field of dog training and is the owner of The Curious Canine. Paula is a member of The Association of Pet Dog Trainers, APDT and is certified by the American Kennel Club as an evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program.

Paula brings her knowledge of positive training techniques, animal behavior, and the importance of having fun into all of The Curious Canine's Training Programs. Kids and dogs have an important relationship that Paula feels strongly about, and she offers Dog Safety Workshops throughout the year so children will learn to be safe in the company of dogs. Paula has owned and bred English Springer Spaniels and currently owns 2 English Setters and a Bichon Mix that compete in AKC Events.

Paula is currently a member of The English Setter Association of America as well as The English Setter Club of New England. Paula has also done rescue work for English Springer Spaniel Rescue. Paula is currently resident of Leominster, Massachusetts.

Betty Cormier

Betty resides in Leominster.  She has been part of the Manilow's staff  since 2005.  She started training at the Curious Canine with her Boston Terrier Aleeileen who she nick named the Boston Terror. She then started bringing Ali to Manilow's day care, where she volunteered one day a week.  She is now working 4 days a week part time with us.

Betty has now acquired a  new member into her family.  She calls him Mr. Wiggles but his real name is Bogart.  Both Ali and Bogart enjoy playing with all their friends at day care.  Bogart is also in training with Paula, owner of the Curious Canine.  Bogart is always anxious to go into the training classes and  work with Paula's assistant Michael whom he adores.

Betty loves working with all her doggie friends at day care and has developed a wonderful relationship with their families.  Betty loves to talk to the families at night when they come to pick up their dogs and tell them stories of the funny things that they did during the day.

Lee Loughrey

Every boy should have a dog; and every dog should have a boy.  Lee Loughrey has grown up with dogs all of his life, and has been an animal lover for just as long.  He has a 9 year old “stay at home” loving Lab named Bean but the most recent addition to his companionship is a spunky and joyful German Shepherd mix named Domino who was born in the beginning of May 2007.  She loves to accompany him to work and “help out” with the daily tasks.  Both Lee and Domino attend training classes at The Curious Canine and both are thrilled not only to have fun in the class, but also to see the rewards and accomplishments thereof.      For making every tail-wag and doggie smile count, Lee and Domino greatly value the time spent at Manilow’s and are grateful to have the company of so many great friends here, both two-legged and four-legged alike.
